esCarpade 2012 Day 3 - Forbes - Lake Cargelligo - Griffith

Waking to a crisp morning in Forbes ready to start day three,

Damian found that Booger Mobile had acquired a pink g-string during the course of the evening...  Must have been Booger's lucky day!!

After fuelling up and finding real coffee, the boys headed to breakfast.

The officials were having a bit of a pow-wow...

Everyone wants to pose with Damian!!

The river looked great.

Team Elmo are new entrants who have really got into the spirit of things...

Damian thinks he's found a new esCarpade entrant, but then he realises it's just a steam tractor!!

After driver briefing, the puppeteers Shannon and Amy took the esCarpadians through this year's official song again - the first school visit was this morning (not for Team Booger Mobile).

Exiting breakfast, the boys spotted 808 hanging in the hood...

Hitting the road with Jason driving the morning shift...

Cross the train lines and turn right...

Onto dirt - there was plenty of it today!1

Damian with a quick self portrait... the bags of chips that are visible are for throwing to kids that the boys see along the way.

More dirt...

And back on tarmac...

Throwing up some dust clouds (through the magic of image manipulation the rear windscreen has been flipped so that the words are visible).

Past what looked to be a vast inland lake...

Turns out it's just the groundwater left over from last week's storms!!

Artistic shot of the rear view mirror...

More dirt...

Team Booger Mobile came across Ten 4 (High Rollers) broken down...

To be honest, this doesn't look good at all!!

One of the boys from Ten 4 decided to switch to Team Booger Mobile...  Or maybe he just borrowed Jason's safety vest...

After a while, and realising there was nothing else the boys could do to help, they hit the road again...

Jason continued to pull his usual happy faces!!

T intersection back onto tarmac...

And of course, more dirt... this time red!!

And some white stuff too...

And no trip would be complete without some more bitumen driving!!

Stopping at a fun stop along the way, Booger Mobile was a big hit with the kids...

And off...

Past some large silos...

Action shot of Jason driving... doesn't his hair look neat from behind!!

Plumes of dust...

Stop and check for trains... none this way...

Or that way either... safe to pass!!

Nearly at lunch...

Lunch time at Lake Cargelligo!!

There's the lake!!

Driver briefing for the arvo session...

Damian was driving in the arvo, and hit the bitumen...

Big thumbs up!!

Jason with a very serious looking self portrait!!

And onto dirt...

Jason remarked that the lavender growing on the sides of the track look pretty... Damian laughed and told him about posting the same thing on the blog last year, only to be advised by someone that it was a noxious weed called (from memory) Patterson's Curse...

Hey Vivien... the LED light we soldered up has broken again!!  Good thing there are three others!!

Stopped to stretch their legs...

Past a few more cars with varying degrees of mechanical problems...

And onward...

The dirt tracks got quite rough for a while... sadly there's no footage of that, as Damian's dash-cam seemed to have failed around 9am.

Past a bunch of huge silos...

At a fun stop - Lance and Michelle having fun taking pictures of Booger Mobile!!

808 (Purple People Eater) following Booger Mobile...  Shortly after this, car 123 wanted to pass 808 then Booger Mobile.  The boys from Booger Mobile called them past, only to have them miss the next turn and have to do a u-turn, at which point they ended up back behind 808 and Booger Mobile again!!

Elmo broken down... there seemed to be a bit of that going around...

More dirt...

Along past a canal...

Past another echidna!!

And more canal...

Parading through town!!

Parked up, ready for a water fight...

Meanwhile, the Navy kept an eye on things with their plane on a stick!!

The citrus festival is just coming to a close, but there are awesome citrus sculptures all up the main street!

These musical ones were awesome!!

This is what happens when esCarpade comes to town!!  (The view from the boys hotel balcony.)

Jason trying to do something, and Damian looking decidely nervous about it!!

This picture shows the lovely rose garden outside the hotel, and also the sad, lonely man eating alone.

More sculptures!!

Exies Club (ex-servicemen's).

The dinner theme was citrus... lots of green, orange and yellow to be seen!!

Balloons... pretty!!

People having a good time...

A dance-off between two teams for the best dressed team award... the oranges won!!

Karaoke time!!

Jason with his adopted dad Ross from Ten 4.

Jason laughing so hard he cried!!

Ross getting more than he bargained for!!

People dancing to Grease Lightning...

And singing working class man as a group!!

Day 3 was done and dusted... and err... dusty.

Time for a well deserved rest day - it's the half way point of esCarpade for 2012!!  There are a lot of cars having repairs done tomorrow - some minor, some major.  The boys are going to get Booger Mobile washed and do a cursory check of all the nuts and bolts etc to make sure they haven't rattled loose!!

Stay tuned!

  1. WOW WOW AND ANOTHER WOW
What a fantastic blog again it looks like it been a long and dusty day but it has not frazed BOOGER MOBILE or the Awesome twosome of Damian and Jason as they power on their great journey in the Camp Quality esCarpade.
Really great to see that Booger Mobile has not had any sagas like a lot of the other car in the esCarpade.
Really great reading the blog and seeing all the pictures, just showing all the places the Team Booger Mobile have been.
Thank you Damian and Jason looked like you both had an AWESOME time today,as always doing it for the kids.
