Slow and steady - how about an earth for the brake lights?

A rainy Saturday meant being housebound... having watched a DVD with the boys, Damian decided a trip to the shed was in order...  Aidan tried out the driver's seat...

Jordan thought he would be chauffeured around and jumped into the back!!

Damian avoided the water coming in under the shed door and resolved an issue with one of the headlights - after removing and testing the bulb, he discovered it was simply a loose connection... voila, lights fixed!!

Onto the real reason they were in the shed - the running of an additional earth for the left hand tail-light.  Regular blog readers would remember the confusing issue from last year where the brake light worked if the lights were off, and the tail light worked when the lights were on, but the brake light didn't work if the tail lights were on...  Anyway, Damian worked out an additional earth would fix it, but last year there wasn't enough time...

Out with the tail light...

And onto the bench... look at all that dust inside the tail light assembly!!

An earth wire was soldered onto the outside of the tail light portion of the assembly...  Not the world's neatest soldering effort, but not too bad!!

And reassembled...  Works a treat!!

Although it doesn't require one, Damian will probably perform the same update to the driver's side tail light assembly in the near future... might as well keep things even!!

On an unrelated note, the fundraising total for Team Booger Mobile is just below $3000.  If you would like to help the boys reach their $5000 minimum, please click the Donate Now button on the top right of this page!!

Big Fish 1st Annual Tattoo, Hot Rod and Bike Show

The day had arrived for the Big Fish 1st Annual Tattoo, Hot Rod and Bike Show.  Booger Mobile was all polished ready to roll...

Damian was meeting Jason at the BP Morayfield (Northbound) - Jason was entering his Harley into the bike show.

Jason turned up, along with his friend Troy.

Close-up of the custom paint work on Jason's Harley... complete with reflection of Booger Mobile (and Damian)!!

Heading north towards the big fish, there's always time for a self portrait!!

Parked up, ready for the show to begin..

More cars arrived, including one that looks a suspiciously similar colour to Booger Mobile!!

The band (Fat Pigs) played...

Lots of bikes in the carpark...

This awesome ute was so tired, it had to sit on the grass...

This chevy is the pride and joy of Craig from Blow-In Shopfitting... regular blog readers would remember Blow-in as being one of Booger Mobile's first sponsors when it was being built.

The crowd gathered for the tattoo show.

Time for the burnout competition... but why is there a bike strapped down to the top of a scissor lift?

Ohhhhhh... that's why...  (Shelley, you may want to look away now.)

Is it moving?

Up...

Up...

Up it goes!!

And back down again...

Waiting for the POP of the bursting rear tyre...

Not to be outdone, this entrant figured he would run rings around the scissor lift...

Literally!!

Others tried...

But in the end, the winner was the man in white who circumnavigated the scissor lift!!

Booger Mobile back home, safe and sound.

The side LED lights still work... it's a miracle!!

Good night Booger Mobile!!

Below is a video of Booger Mobile's trip using the dash-cam...  The first part of the trip includes stopping at the BP and arriving at the car show.  Leaving the car show starts at 7:49 in the video.

Sadly, neither Booger Mobile nor Jason's Harley won a prize at the car show...  Damian, however, felt very colourful in a sea of black shirts and patches, repping Camp Quality amongst the bikie fraternity...

That's it for now...  hopefully there will be some other news in coming weeks... stay tuned!!

Wash and polish - time for a car show!!

With the Big Fish 1st Annual Tattoo, Hot Rod and Bike Show on in the morning, Damian decided that Booger Mobile should have a bit of a tidy up.

First up, removal of the front half of Booger's head... it's looking a bit worse for wear after two esCarpades...

Then, out of the shed for a bath - helped by Damian's son Aidan.

Back in the shed, Damian taught Aidan about the magic properties of the chamois!!

Oops...  apparently this sticker wasn't water proof... better remove that!!

Two esCarpades and around 10000 km later, the front grille still looks great!!

Polished up and ready to show!!

Here's the other angle...

The bonnet looks nice and shiny too...  Nice reflections of the fluoro's there!!

If you are in the Brisbane/Caboolture area tomorrow, why not stop by the Big Fish (on Pumicestone Road) to visit Booger Mobile at the car show.  Damian will be there around 9am, open to the public at 11am!!

Be there, or be somewhere else!!

Better make sure Booger Mobile is still driveable!!

First things first... with the car show coming up next weekend, Damian figured he had better get Booger Mobile back into a driveable state... first step was to have a couple of tyres puncture repaired...  Sad news on both fronts, however one was salvagable (albeit temporarily) using an inner tube...

This one, however, has had "more hits than Elvis" according to the tyre bloke... and it bulges on the sides...  You can almost see it below where the white mark is...

Once the tyre is inflated, it's more obvious!!  Damian will need to speak to Mr Kumho and see if he can get some more tyres for this year's esCarpade...

Damian's boys were being very helpful, checking the pressure in the tyres...

Good work boys!!

Aidan checked out the engine... yep, it's still there!!

Time to remove some old stickers... these two special ones that Damian's boys made for last year's trip were a bit faded, so they will come off, and the boys can make new ones for this year.

Apply heat to the sticker, not Dad's fingers!!

This sticker spot is also becoming available...  Kerbside Car Sound as you recall provided Booger Mobile's awesome stereo.  Their sticker remained on for two esCarpades.

Aidan demonstrating what a removed sticker looks like!!

He had been kneeling on the Kumho R700 rally tyres, so has his own tread on his leg...

The sticker is gone, but the outline of the letters remain... Damian will have to get the Eucalyptus Oil onto that!!

But first, time to do an oil change... out with the dirty black oil...

One shiny guard after residue removal...

Shiny new K&N oil filter...

You would reckon with all this product placement, like the Valvoline XLD Classic 20W-50 oil that Booger Mobile uses, someone would donate some of this stuff to Team Booger Mobile...

Another two-year sponsor, Aqualogical, are making way for new sponsors in 2012.  Thanks for the support!!

Ta-da!!

Damian set up the dash-cam (mounted just in below the rear-view mirror) and GPS, ready for a test drive and to fuel up...  This will be (literally) the first time that Booger Mobile has been driven since the 2011 Camp Quality esCarpade!!

Test drive - 30 mins condensed into an 11 min video...  well worth a look if you have time to spare...  no, really...

And safely back in the shed...

Well, Damian has kicked off the preparation work now, and hopefully will be joined by his brother Jason on Sunday for another working bee...  Stay tuned!!
